“Rama Brahma Yogam” is chanting of the mantra “Om Namo Rama Om”. Rama Brahma Yogam is a one week residential program (Saptaham). The speed at which the mantra is chanted varies each day to achieve purification on different levels. On the first day of the program, the mantra is chanted once per breath. On the second day, it’s chanted three times in one breath. On the third day, it’s chanted five times in one breath. And on the fourth day, it’s chanted seven times in one breath. From the fifth day to the seventh day the mantra is chanted in descending order of five times, three times, and one time respectively in a single breath.
By chanting the mantra in ascending and descending orders, first day – the etheric body (Pranamaya kosha), second day – the mind, emotions, and body, on the third day – the five elements (Pruthvi, Apas, Thejo, Vayu, Akash) of the body, on the fourth day – the Sapta Dathu (Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Medha, Asthi, Majja, and Ojas) get purified. From the fifth to the seventh day all the purified components of the body are re-established.
Rama Brahma Yogam Saptaham is conducted every Friday to Thursday. The chanting of the mantra “Om Namo Rama Om” is accompanied by morning and evening Agnihotrams (the sacred fire ritual) along with the recitation of “Sri Apaduddharaka Stotram” and “Nama Ramayanam”. Also, “Chaitanya Kriya Dhyan” is practiced in the morning. The schedule for Rama Brahma Yogam Saptaham starts at 5:00 AM every day and completes at 7:30 PM with breaks for breakfast, lunch, and rest after lunch.
Many participants experience positive changes in their physical, mental and emotional conditions in the first three days of the practice itself. Also, they experience inner silence, calmness, and peace. By the end of the Saptaham, their wishes will be materialized. They are able to observe improvement in their vitality, and understanding and improve inter-human relations.
Further, with regular practice of the mantra, they develop self-confidence, enhancement of memory power, and improve efficiency in their respective professions and fields of operation. There is an improvement in IQ, EQ, and Spiritual Co-efficient. It is also reported that pregnant women who practiced Rama Brahma Yogam were able to give birth to healthy babies without any surgical intervention.
By chanting this mantra regularly, people suffering from metabolic disorders like high blood pressure, diabetes, and auto-immune disorders will be able to change their lifestyles and control the disease. In children, humbleness, humility, respect towards elders, teachers, and devotion towards god are developed. The focus on the studies is also improved. Apart from these, practitioners also develop loving-kindness, generosity, and compassion towards fellow beings.
